The BMW X3 is making its internet rounds these days, as it is the newest toy in the BMW line-up. Even so, while its 15 minutes of fame were granted, the new model does mean more than that to the German brand. It is one of its best selling cars and it therefore needs to be properly explained for the customers, in order to make sure they get their penny’s worth out of it. In traditional fashion, BMW put together a short clip in which it explains everything you need to know about the G01 X3.

Presented as usual by Chris Brow, the clip goes over the design, driving characteristics, connectivity features and the new Driving Assistant Plus function. As far as the design goes, it’s rather obvious that this is the right way to create and evolutionary look while also offering a fresh face to the audience. The new X3 impresses with its big kidney grilles up front as well as the new headlamps combined with more elegant taillights round the back. Inside the cabin the jump is even bigger with everything being reworked to bring the X3 into 2017 and then into the future.

In terms of driving characteristics we can’t really tell you how it feels just yet as we didn’t get to sit behind its wheel and take it to the track. However, since it was developed on the CLAR architecture and it employs lightweight materials throughout its body, which reduce weight in all the right places, we have a feeling it’s going to be a great driver’s car. That will be especially true in M Performance guise or, later on, when the real M model comes out in the shape of the X3 M.

Speaking of M Performance, the BMW X3 M40i is, unfortunately, the only six cylinder option customers in the US will get. Alongside it, at the beginning at least, the xDrive30i model will also be offered, with a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Those will be the sole two choices for the US initially with more to be added down the line, including plug-in hybrid and full electric models. Until then though, let’s learn all about the new X3 from the video below.
