If you thought BMW’s lineup was bloated and convoluted now, just wait until the end of 2018. Over the course of the next two years, BMW plans on launching a very aggressive product offensive that will introduce a ton of new and revised models.

“We intend to launch more than 40 new and revised models of our three premium brands on the market during 2017 and 2018. The new product offensive began successfully with the launch of the new BMW 5 Series in February, further raising the bar in the business sedan segment,” said BMW CEO Harald Krüger.

The idea is to increase sales revenue and profitability, likely to help make another push toward electric and automated driving by 2021. “Leadership in innovation and sustainable profitability are the keys to our success. That’s why, we are fully focused on meeting the wishes and needs of our customers, with the aim of igniting their enthusiasm for mobility day after day with appealing products and services,” said Krüger.

According to Nicolas Peter, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Finance, “Sustainable profitability and innovation leadership go hand in hand. Drawing on our underlying operational strength, we are therefore aiming to achieve an EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) margin of between 8 and 10 percent in the Automotive segment for the eighth year in succession,”.

Peter continued by saying “By maintaining operational performance at a consistently high level, while at the same time focusing on the areas that are becoming increasingly relevant for customers, we will continue to generate sufficient resources to finance the high upfront expenditure needed to shape tomorrow’s mobility.” So basically, BMW needs to remain highly profitable so as to fun the technology of the future.

So the Bavarian brand will be creating several new models and variants by 2018, with a large emphasis on the BMW X7 lineup and 7 Series lineup. BMW will also be launching the new 8 Series, 6 Series GT and all M variants to go along with them. Overall, throughout the world market, be prepared to see a massive influx of new BMWs as the brand makes a big push toward the future.
