The enthusiast world has been dreaming about another M5 Touring ever since the E61 M5 was retired. The reasons why they decided to skip them are rather obvious – low sales – yet that hasn’t stopped the enthusiasts craving for a new iteration. In the case of M Touring cars, they are only asking for more practicality combined with outrageously powerful engines.

And while that will seemingly not happen with the BMW F90 M5, it hasn’t stop rendering artists around the world from trying to figure out what one such model would’ve looked like if it had received the green light from the board of management in Munich. Therefore, here we are, drooling over what could’ve been, thanks to the guys over at X-Tomi Designs.

They are also the ones that brought us the first rendering of the upcoming F90 BMW M5 sedan earlier this month and we just keep on loving their work as it brings to life some of our wildest dreams. In this particular case, we know a few of our readers will be glad to see what a potential Touring M5 could look like with the new styling brought forward by the G30 5 Series.

Unfortunately, you won’t get to buy such a 600 HP family car but you can make due with the BMW M550i xDrive model that will almost certainly come out in Touring guise as well, next to the sedan. Fitted with a reworked version of the all-familiar 4.4-liter V8 N63 engine, it will have 462 HP and 650 Nm of torque at its disposal, plenty to make sure you hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in about 4 seconds. Now that’s faster than the outgoing F10 M5 so you should have all the power you need without the M5 badge on the tailgate.
