The BMW i8 is quickly becoming the darling of the tuning world. In the last few months, we have seen several tuning projects featuring the exotic and eco-friendly i8. Now, California-based Vorsteiner is releasing their VR-E aero program for the hybrid sportscar. Alongside their aero kit, the company is also introducing a series of forged wheels which fit perfectly the wide body of the i8.
Vorsteiner’s VR-E aerodynamics for the BMW i8 consists of a carbon fiber aero front spoiler and an aero rear diffuser. These Vorsteiner parts are made out of carbon fiber, offering supreme strength and rigidity. Constructed of the finest Autoclaved Pre-Impregnated Carbon Fiber, Vorsteiner parts provides superior stiffness, aerospace strength and durability compared to traditional hand laid carbon fiber composites.
This BMW i8 features a full Vorsteiner Aero Program, alongside a set of Vorsteiner VFE-301 forged wheels. The wheels are light, bigger than the OEM setup, offering a weight conscious visual upgrade. Both the carbon fiber parts and the lightweight forged wheels add to the overall sporty look of the i8 and ensures it will stand out wherever it goes. Not that it can’t do it on its own.
The i8 is powered by a combination of a petrol engine and electric motors, powering all four wheels. Therefore, the BMW i8’s hybrid system consists of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system. The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8, while the 96 kW/131 hp electric drive sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
