At BMWBLOG we love high-end watches and at the America’s Cup Yacht Race in New York City we were introduced to British timekeeping pieces by Bremont. Founded in 2002, Bremont has made a name for itself in high-end classic look watches that are geared towards Aviation, Engineering and Adventure. Bremont has been appointed Official Timing Partner to the 35th America’s Cup and the defending champion, ORACLE TEAM USA.
In partnering with Oracle Team USA, Bremont has outfitted the team with a gorgeous chronograph Regatta timepiece made specially for the team. When creating a special time piece for Oracle Team USA, the Regatta OTUSA model, special features needed for yacht racing were added. Specifically, Team Oracle needed a 15 minute countdown and a 5 minute start time. Bremont added a 12 hour clock face with America’s Cup embossed just below the Bremont name and a date function.
Incorporating all of these features was not only difficult but is rare on Regatta mechanical movement watches. In an interesting historical tie in, the crown of each watch is made in part of the carbon fiber from the winning 2013 Oracle Team USA AC72 yacht. The second limited edition watch from Bremont for the America’s Cup is the Regatta AC Series. The Regatta AC is a more classical appearing self-winding watch.
The new Bremont Regatta watches feature a 43mm diameter case with a 16mm case width and 22mm lug width. They are water resistant to 100 meters and have automatic movement. The Regatta OTUSA is made of titanium. The Regatta AC has a choice of an 18 karat rose gold case or stainless steel. The stainless steel is not typical stainless seen in other watches, it has been hardened to over six times typical stainless.
Straps are available in temple island rubber, or alligator leather. These are then paired with titanium or 18 carat rose gold pin buckles to match the watch. Just 235 of each watch will be produced and will be individually serial numbered.
Classical style, self-winding and purpose built for the sailing community, the Bremont Watches would make an excellent addition to any watch aficionado. Just like BMWs, they combine performance and luxury.
