The BMW 2002 Hommage Concept revealed this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is already serving as inspiration for many artists. Even though it has been received with mix reactions, the concept has made a statement in the car design world.
X-Tomi design is the first one to take a stab at reimagining the BMW 2002 Hommage Concept and in this case, change it into a convertible. Even though building a cabriolet may be a bit harder, it could end up even looking even better than the original Coupe.
Since the 2002 Hommage is wearing the complete drivetrain of the BMW M2 underneath its sheet metal, this could also be an alternative to a potential M2 Convertible. For those that enjoy feeling the wind through their hair while driving down a coastal highway, a super sporty and compact convertible looks like a great idea. Unfortunately, BMW has a tradition of keeping the hommage cars as design studies so it’s likely never to reach production.
