When the new BMW M3 and M4 models first came out, German tuner G-Power was amongst the first to offer a kit for the S55 engine. Initially they offered power kits up to 560 HP but now they took things up to a whole new level, raising the bar to 600 HP with their new kit.

As you probably expect, this kind of power isn’t attainable with a simple ECU flash. Therefore, G-Power had to go even further and work on a heftier upgrade that includes a reworked set of turbochargers along with a new ECU map.

Dubbed “Bi-Tronik 2 V3”, the new kit makes sure the 3-liter mill can deliver 200 HP per liter without blowing the cylinders through the hood or spitting them out through the oil pan. The first thing the engineers worked on was backpressure that had to be taken down a notch. Therefore, the stock exhaust system was replaced with G-Power’s own that has flow-optimized downpipes and new resonators and is made completely out of titanium, making it lighter and sturdier.

Coupled with the new ignition timings, the exhaust makes sure you get 560 HP under your right foot but for the last 40 HP they had to go even further and improve the turbochargers. According to the tuner, they reduced the rotating mass inside the turbos by using CNC machined parts as well as flow-optimized exhaust and compressor housings that feature enlarged inlets and outlets. Furthermore, the seals have been reinforced as well as the shaft bearings to make sure reliability isn’t an issue later down the road.

The end result is a beast that accelerates from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of more than 200 mph (320 km/h).
