BMW X6 is getting a new competitor. After Mercedes-Benz launched the GLE Coupe, the Brits at Land Rover are preparing their own variant of the popular Sports Activity Coupe.
Codenamed L560, the new crossover is expected to be dubbed Range Rover Sport Coupe. Quoting sources within the company, Autocar states that while most of its details remain a secret, the new addition to the Range Rover family is expected next year. The Range Rover Sport Coupe is built on the same chassis and suspension as the Jaguar F-Pace and it will be lightweight thanks to the aluminum body.
With a length of approximately 4.7 meters long, it will be slightly shorter than BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe (4.9 m), slotting between the Evoque, which is 4.4 meters long, and the 4.85 meters Range Rover Sport.
Inside, it will offer seats for four with an optional 3-seat bench.
Autocar says the Range Rover Sport Coupe could feature an all-electric drivetrain and a hybrid powertrain, possibly based on the SDV6 HEV in the Range Rover Sport. A 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is likely to be available for a range-topping SVR.
