The i8 comes powered by a plug-in hybrid system that allows the vehicle some breathtaking performance. The BMW i8 uses a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine combined with the BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system. The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8. The electric driver develops 96 kW/131 hp and it sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
But the hybrid platform is not the only thing that the i8 is known for – the design is just as equally impressive and high-tech. A real head-turner, the BMW i8 has not only won several design awards, but it’s also regarded by its customers as one of the most futuristic and cool cars to drive. But how do you improve a car that’s nearly perfect? As we’ve seen before, the easiest and most affordable way is to change its stock wheels.
This BMW i8 is further modified by Wheels Boutique. These are HRE P101 wheels sized 22×9 in the front and 22×10.5 in the rear, respectively. The wheels come with a Satin Black finish matching the Sophisto Grey exterior. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Nero GT sized 245/30/22 and 285/25/22 in the front and rear, giving plenty of road grip and proper handling as well.
