BMW won’t be making an i8 racing car anytime soon – or ever for that matter – but that hasn’t stopped rendering artists from around the world dreaming of the design lines and proportions of the futuristic race car. The folks over at Stance Works rendered a BMW i8 Procar racing car based on the production i8 and adorned with the aero parts seen on the legendary BMW M1 Procar.
The M1 Procar made history in the last 70s and early 80s, and to date it’s being considered one of the most successful racing cars ever to compete.
The i8 Procar rendering gives the standard i8 a new front-bumper with two air ducts and a large grille to allegedly cool a potential a potent engine found under the hood. The car was lowered to improve the driving dynamics and cornering, while the oversized wheels ensure optimal grip. Muscular wheel arches properly cover the wide tires and wheels, while the large rear wing increases downforce.
While BMW won’t be making a racing version of the i8 anytime soon, the rumormill churns out that a tuned-up i8s will arrive this year to celebrate the company’s 100th birthday.[Photo: Khyzyl Saleem]
