In spring 2016 the latest high-performance model from BMW M will be available with an additional equipment option which brings its exclusive, racing-inspired character even more prominently to the fore. The new BMW M4 GTS will be available from launch in March 2016 with another innovation in chassis technology. The options list for the BMW M4 GTS will include M Carbon Compound wheels (front: 9.5 J x 19, rear: 10.5 J x 20), whose innovative material characteristics bring about a significant reduction in unsprung and rotating masses and therefore have a positive effect on the car’s acceleration and deceleration, steering responses and vibration levels.

Designed for the race track yet also approved for road use, this technological showpiece is therefore the world’s first series-produced vehicle that can be fitted with wheels boasting a CFRP/aluminium-composite construction. They enable around seven kilograms to be shaved off the weight of a BMW M4 GTS fitted with the already extraordinarily lightweight forged aluminum wheels specified as standard. Rim wells in exposed carbon also lend the BMW Carbon Compound wheels exclusive visual accents.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires adapted specially for the BMW M4 GTS (front: 265/35 ZR19, rear: 285/30 ZR20).

  1. CDspeed says:

They are good looking wheels, I wish I could get a set for my i3. You’d think BMW would make a set for the i3 and i8 available through their accessories department. I’d like carbon ceramic brakes too, if they made sense for regular road cars.

  2. Kaisuke971 says:

I don’t… I’m not really sure about that design. I think it looks good maybe when you’re far from the car, and basically only see the aluminium spokes, but in close-up look, i don’t feel them that much.

  3. jason bourne says:

Why seven spokes? Five spokes would have a cleaner look.

  4. Senne says:

Another innovation! :) “First series-produced vehicle that can be fitted with wheels boasting a CFRP/aluminium-composite construction” And I do like them..

  5. John says:

So carbon-compound, is like carbon but not as good?

    • Kaisuke971 says:

Basically the wheel is still lighter, but it’s a bit cheaper. Not quite as light though… Kinda an in-between solution, because it’s not full carbon nor is it full aluminium.
