BMW 9 Series Coupe topic is back again. According to Automobile Mag, the rumored 9 Series Coupe will be positioned between the 7 Series and the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Historically, BMW assigned “even badges” to the coupe family but the board is said to be reluctant to revive the iconic 8 Series name and the 10 Series is not part of their trademarks portfolio.
The production 9 Series will be a four-door, four-passenger coupe based on a long-wheelbase version of the 7 Series platform. The market launch is once again rumored to be in 2020 and will use a lot of design cues and luxury elements from Vision Future Luxury.
BMW will reportedly use a six-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain, a twin-turbo V-8, or a 650-hp V-12, which would be reserved for the M960i/M9.
Inside the cabin, the high-tech seen in the new 7 Series and also in the Vision Future Luxury Concept will likely be used, along with higher premium materials and trims.
