Ever since the launch of the BMW M4 GTS, many BMW fans were waiting for news on a comparable BMW M3 CRT, but our sources say that a super sporty version of the popular F80 M3 won’t arrive until 2017. BMW is still in the process of developing the car and the full details have yet to be finalized.
To shorten the waiting time a little, Duron Automotive Artwork created a virtual BMW F80 M3 CRT using design cues from the M4 GTS. In reality, the BMW M3 CRT is expected to follow a similar path as its predecessor – the E90 M3 CRT.
The CRT – the acronym stands for Carbon Racing Technology – is meant to be a lightweight performance version of the current M3 to successfully compete on the track.
The M4 GTS will loan its track-ready, adjustable suspension, while the S55 with water injection will power the M3 CRT. The super sporty sedan will take on the Mercedes-AMG C63 Black Series which develops 510 horsepower.
Other design cues will include the racing wing found on the M4 GTS, specially developed wheels and a performance exhaust system.
