We all know of the LCI treatment given to the 2016 BMW 3 Series, which came with a suite of new exterior and interior touches and a new engine in 340i form. However, that LCI treatment has yet to make it to the slightly un-loved 3 Series Gran Turismo.
The 3 Series GT will be receiving the same LCI treatment as its siblings but they. will take some time to arrive. Autoblog and its team of spies have caught some photographs of the updated 3 Series GT wearing camouflage. It’s hard to make out specific details, but with only a selective amount of camo, we can tell that it’s just a bumper, headlight and taillight job, as it was for the 3er sedan.
The 3 Series sedan got new headlight, taillights, slightly different bumpers and some new interior bits. We can expect the same here for the 3 Series GT, however, the rear bumper might be a bit different as the entire rear end of the GT is significantly different from the sedan. On the inside, Sport seats will likely be a standard option, as it is on the post-LCI sedan as well. What has yet to be seen is if the new 3 Series GT will come with the new powertrain options as the sedan. The current top-of-the-range 3 Series GT is the 335i, but we haven’t yet heard if that will become a 340i. My guess is yes, but who knows.
The current 3 Series GT is a bit of a pariah amongst the 3 Series lineup. It seems to be the answer to a question that nobody asked, but it’s good car nonetheless. Hopefully, the LCI treatment gives it enough of a makeover to make it slightly more appealing.
