The nearly unveiled interior of the upcoming 2017 BMW 5 Series has been spied earlier this week.
Looking at the images below, one can immediately spot similarities between the new G11/G12 7 Series and the G30 5 Series. The steering wheel and AC controls are nearly identical to the ones in the 7er. Even the floating LCD screen seems to have the same size as the one in the new 7 Series.
The G30 5 Series also likely to sport the gets a reconfigurable gauge cluster – a 12.3” screen displaying different gauges while in different Driving Modes.
The new iDrive system with touchscreen and gesture-based functions will also be part of the 5 Series standard features, along over-the-air updates for the car and other gimmicks that will bring ConnectedDrive philosophy to a new level.
Our sources say the G30/G31 family will get most of the interior goodies that G11/G12 7 Series introduces: remote parking with the smart touchscreen keyfob, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, ambient light and fragrance air system. Other features like WiFi Hotsport, wireless phone charging and AppleCar play are also on the list.
BMW will unveil the seventh generation 5 Series next summer. The executive/mid-size luxury car has been manufactured by BMW since 1972 and it’s one of the most iconic automobiles ever built. It is BMW’s second best-selling model after the 3 Series and it’s available in three variants: sedan, touring and gran turismo.
