Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche talked about “commonalities” between automakers; all three have launched several plug-in vehicles go with more electric vehicles to follow. The big three currently share the Nokia Here mapping service.
“Nokia here led to a common approach… and there might be other areas,” Zetsche told a news conference at the Frankfurt auto show, adding that any such cooperation would most likely start with the next generation of batteries.
Samsung SDI currently supplies the BMW Group with battery cells for the BMW i3, BMW i8 and additional hybrid models over the coming years. The two companies extended their collaboration in 2014.[Source: Reuters]
