There has been a lot of talk about the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV setting a lap record on the Nurburgring. The record, according to unofficial various reports, is 7:43 min. When compared to the BMW M4 – 7:52min – the Alfa clearly has an edge over it. The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is powered by a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 510 horsepower compared to 425 horsepower in the BMW M4 model.
Additionally, there are rumors that the Alfa is actually powered by an engine which displaces a lot more horsepower – 510 – which is enough to push the Giulia QV from rest to 100km/h in mere 3.9 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 321 km/h (200 mph). So far, it has been all hearsay combined with Internet hype.
The lap time of the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is better than the time set by the Audi R8 V10, BMW M4 Coupe and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. When compared with the BMW M4 GTS, the Giulia is likely to feel less track-ready, yet we won’t know for sure until we drive them back-to-back on the ‘Ring.
