Can Eyilik, an Istanbul-based reader shares his impressive collection of M cars with the rest of us. The gems in his collection are a 1987 E30 M3, a 2000 M Coupe and a 2004 E46 M3 CSL. Can even gave these three unique cars their own name: Henna, Junior and Cesil, respectively. He’s passion for BMW cars started 26 years ago when he was 6 with his father taking him for spirited drives in an E21 315i. Later on, he “borrowed” his mom’s E36 318is and as years gone by moved to various other BMW’s like E46s, Z4s and E90 3 Series.

But his true love has always been the E30 M3. “I always lusted for an E30 M3 since a father’s friend brought home a poster of a then new E30 M3 when I was only 7 years old,” Can says.

“After years of searching and harassing owners, I was finally able to find my E30 M3 in 2007. After briefly owning the car, I went for a full restoration. The engine had been rebuild, all the rust have been cleaned out and all the worn and damaged parts were either restored or replaced with new ones.”

His collection slowly started to grow and later acquired a 2000 Z3 M Coupe and the almighty E46 M3 CSL. Just a few years ago, he embarked on a legendary trip from Turkey to Nurburgring aboard the E30 M3. “It was an unheard thing back in 2007 in Turkey for someone to have an out of the country road trip with a 25 year old car especially to a country 2000km away,” Can says. “Everybody called me crazy for even thinking of such an adventure.”

To properly handle the legendary race track, the E30 M3 was modded with Bilstein Shocks and H&R Race Springs for the much needed handling improvement. Then came the gloriously screaming Carbon Fiber Airbox and Alpha-N Tuning which was completed in Stuttgart by an M Specialist. On the exterior, he added EVO 2 front spoiler and Sport Evo Rear spoiler to improve aerodynamics. The interior got upgraded as well with Recaro SRD seats and Alcantara steering wheel, gear lever, handbrake lever to improve in-car ergonomics for spirited drives and track work.

He’s a Ring regular now and his M3s seen the famous race track every year.

This story highlights once again the wonderful BMW community around the world and how each car has its own story.
