A strange report comes from Greece where a BMW E60 5 Series ended up swimming in the sea.

What we believe happened here was the driver either confusing the brake pedal for the acceleration or the reverse gear for the drive gear, and in a split of a second the car moved forward ending up with its nose in the water.

Judging by footage below, the car is likely to have hydrolocked. An engine gets hydrolocked when it breathes water rather than air. This usually happens then the car drives into a pond, lake or river with the engine running.

So what’s the lesson learned here? Keep your car on the road and off the beach.

or the owner is in financial trouble and was trying to get insurance money just as it was the status quo during the 2008 crisis in Iceland and people were either doing this or burning their range rovers, among others, when they could not make their payments. sad :(
