Coinciding with BMW’s 100th anniversary, the new generation 5 Series will debut in 2016. With about a year left before its official debut, the 2017 5 Series starts testing on U.S. soil. The prototype seen below was spotted in Palos Verdes/Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
The new G30 family is built upon the originally called ‘35up’ platform, now CLAR, which will be found in the next 3, 5, 6 and 7 Series models.
Even though the test mule is heavily covered with camouflage, we know that under neath front fascia will be sportier than the current F10 model with hood lines giving the G30 5 Series an aggressive and dynamic look. Some of the current BMW design features trickled their way into the G30 5 Series looks, starting with the headlights flowing into the kidney grille and the sporty character line flowing across the side of the car.
New full LED headlights will be made available, while laser lights will also be offered as an option.
If the BMW 7 Series is now the technological standard of the brand, the new G30 5 Series surprisingly will be even more high-tech. Among the equipment offered for the new 5er will be an adaptive air suspension with dynamic driving conditions which will also be able to recognize bumps in the road even at night.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series will have a Head Up Display system with augmented reality and it will also move up to 80 km/h completely autonomously, thanks to the development of a new assistance systems.
The touring and sedan version will be launched together with sales beginning in 2017.[Source: Autospies]
