The upcoming BMW 1 Series Sedan continues its testing trials. This last spy photo from China gives us a glimpse into the future design of the entry-level sedan. At a first glance, one could mistake the sedan’s cabin for the one found in the new X1 or the 2 Series Active Tourer, with an identical steering wheel and buttons.

As things stand right now, the F52 BMW 1 Series Sedan is only a Chinese affair. The new compact sedan will arrive in 2016 and the North American and European market are not in the target demographic at this point.

This compact sedan is being put against the Mercedes-Benz’s CLA-Class and Audi’s A3 sedan, all front-wheel based.

The 1 Series Sedan will share the underpinnings with BMW’s first FWD car, the 2 Series Active Tourer, but it will be called the 1 Series to adhere to BMW’s odd-numbered badging for sedans.

Overall, though, this cabin more or less confirms that the 1 Series Sedan will fit in with the rest of the BMW family quite nicely.

The 1 Series Sedan can be FWD, for the space etc. But PLEASE BMW make a 2 Series Gran Coupe and make it RWD!! WE DON’T CARE that it has less space than FWD cars!!! A BMW, and definitely coupes should be all about “Sheer driving pleasure”, and “the Ultimate Driving Machine”!! :(

if BMW doesn’t bring this to the U.S., while Mercedes and Audi rack up THOUSANDS of CLA and A3 sales per month, then they have truly lost their minds. Seriously. They need this car yesterday.
