From China come the latest BMW M2 spy photos which now confirm what we have known for a while: the new “baby-M” will get a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). According to our sources, this is the same gearbox found in the new M3/M4.
Along with the seven-speed DCT, the new M2 will also get the new six-speed manual transmission also found in the M3/M4.
Our sources say that the M limited-slip differential on the rear axle is also adopted almost unchanged from the M3/M4, giving the M2 unrivaled dynamics in its class.
The M2 uses an updated N55 engine with 365 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque with 25 lb-ft of torque available as overboost. While the updated N55 is based on the same engine found in the M235i, our source says it will have some components from the new S55 unit. Yet the engine code will still be labeled as N55. The engine will feature an overboost function just like the 1M, good for 25 lb-ft of torque.
The images above also reveal a black interior with blue stitching which has also been confirmed before. A button for changing the suspension setting ca be seen as well, with likely a Comfort and Sport mode.
