There was a time when uttering the word “hybrid” meant something dull and uninventful. But, ever since BMW introduced the futuristic BMW i8, things have changed for that matter. The futuristic design, matched with good performance meant that the eco-friendly solution for high-performance motoring has finally arrived. A raging success for the Bavarian car maker, the i8 has even forced BMW to increase the planned production numbers.

BMW i8 utilizes a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system. The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8, while the 96 kW/131 hp electric drive sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).

Recently we have seen an influx of aftermarket builds featuring the BMW i8 as the project car. These two BMW i8s come courtesy of Vossen Wheels and both have received a set of Vossen Forged VPS-304 wheels. The wheels are sized 22×9 inches in the front and 22×10.5 inches in the rear. The matching BMW i8s come with a set of Pirelli 245-30-22 and 285-25-22 tires, providing the grip necessary for a high-performance car.

The two BMW i8 models are painted in Sophisto Grey and Crystal White, some believe the best colors offered for the i8. Which one do you think it looks best?

picked up my I8 in sept really like it ,but now I’m having major problems . It’s been in the dealership for almost a month they have nothng in the US as far as parts or even transmission fluid .Car died in my driveway apparently the unit that controls the battery engine just went ,car locked up they had to tow it using rollers, then the real fun begins ,NO PARTS . After a rush shipment of parts which then requires them taking almost the entire car apart they then have been delayed by no gaskettes then more than a week for transmission fluid all because BMW has no parts or an understanding of how to service the car. Dealership was instructed how to replace eveything needed which they have been wrong about ,you would think with all of the exposure this car has gotten they would have thought about some of these things. No transmission fluid in this counrty for this car ” Really ” BMW this makes no sense Oh they wanted to give me a weekend somewhere but never called me ,JUST FIX THE CAR I DON”T CARE ABOUT A WEEKEND SOMEWHERE Frustrated
