Fans of the late actor Paul Walker were in tears this past weekend when the Furios 7 hit the theaters and ended with a tribute to one of the nicest guys in Hollywood and one of the biggest car enthusiasts out there. Our own Nico DeMattia just wrote an article on Walker’s passion for cars which led us to another rare car owned by the late actor.
In Summer of 2013, a very rare 1974 BMW 2002 tii Touring Alpina, previously owned by Paul Walker, went up for sale. The early ‘70s BMW is equipped with a 2000cc, inline four-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel-injection and a five-speed Gertrag Quick Shift manual transmission. It delivers 130 horsepower and it was only produced from 1971 to 1975.
This particular 2002 tii Touring was upgraded after purchase by the dealer with an Alpina kit. This kit included foglights, graphics, minor mechanical upgrades, wheels and interior bits. The car features the Alpina script on its front fenders and rear valance and has a Bilstein Sportkit applique to the right of the driver’s side taillight.
After seeing the Furious 7 movie this weekend, I remember receiving an email in 2013 with some exclusive photos of the car, so it’s only suited to share them now. Upon digging through our email archive, I also came across an interview request with Paul Walker dated April 2013, which unfortunately I didn’t follow through.
Without any further ado, here is the rare Alpina 2002 tii:
