Even though the BMW 2 Series Coupe was unveiled nearly a year ago and new prototype, carrying the usual camouflage, was spotted today in Souther California.
The test mule covers some of its outside panels with the black and white tape, making it even more mysterious.
The Youtube user who uploaded the video is wondering if BMW is testing a three-cylinder powerplant under the hood, but fails to specify whether he based his assumption on the engine sound alone.
Back in December, BMW introduced the 218i Coupe with 3-cylinder petrol engine from the new BMW Group engine portfolio and the BMW 220d xDrive Coupe. The 1.5 liter engine makes the same 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque for the 218i and 190 hp for the 220d.
Both models are aimed at the European market.
We already know that BMW is testing the upcoming M2 on U.S. soil, but nothing on this car screams of an M car. So they mystery remains…
