The never ending rumor around a future BMW supercar is back once again. According to German magazine Autobild, the future BMW CEO Harald Krüger might revive the M8 project which has been often denied by the current BMW board.

The rumormill churns out that the M8 supercar, or whichever moniker carries, will produce 630 horsepower and will arrive in 2018-2019.

Just as rumored before, the M8 supercar would be a hybrid with a powerful electric motors paired with a 3.0 liter six-cylinder tuborcharged engine.

Design wise, the M8 takes the cues from a classic supercar with a pure two-seater layout.

The BMW community has been asking for a pure supercar for years now, but the recession and BMW’s focus on future mobility has delayed a project that most people within BMW dream to work on it. We’ve heard in the past that sketches have been drawn, even clay models have been built, but the green light never came from the board.

So maybe, this time around, we will finally get to see the car that puts BMW back on the supercars map.
