Lexus puts out another video poking fun at the BMW 435i. Using the RC350 as the comparison model, Ming-Jou Chen of Lexus College takes us through a series of standard feature and technical specs to showcase the differences between the two sports coupes.

One of the marketing gimmicks to close the gap between comparable models is to offer more standard features in a premium car than your competitor, and Lexus is banking on that in this video. The comparison goes even further into highly technical details that cater to die hard enthusiasts.

The video is self-explanatory and should be taken as being subjective in its nature, so let’s just focus quickly on the performance of the two cars.

The RC350 is powered by a V6 3.5 liter naturally-aspirated engine producing 310 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. The 435i gets by with a smaller displacement, 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged unit with 306 hp (the power will be increased to 320-340 in 2016 when the facelift comes to market) and 295 lb-ft of torque.

    Worst video… ever!

  2. CDspeed says:

If Lexus was confident with their products, they wouldn’t be producing videos like this. The truth is that RC is direct competitor for the Hyundai Genius coupe, not the 4-Series.

  3. James says:

Doesn’t mention BMW’s better engineering, ride quality, or faster track times, as well as 0-60.

  4. Such one sided! Forgets about European Delivery and BMW World aka The Welt! Does Lexus provide comp service for 4 yrs/50,000 miles like BMW? I like that BMW has keep the interior controls simple and not smoke & mirrors like Lexus, so I can focus on the road.

  5. FRED says:

jajaja these chinese girl presumed 5 more hp than 435i…WTF!

  6. Catalin Pascale says:

…”fogot” to mention that the torque on bmw is better and the fact that the basic transmission on the bmw is way better then that G+crap the lexus has…. the Lexus is so ugly woud’t buy it even if it runs on water!… how can u compare that coffin with one of the most beautiful bodies on the planet?!

  7. Varun Kumar says:

This isn’t called comparison. I would still pay an extra 10 grand to drive a BMW, otherwise I would waste my 43k on another machine(ish). And by the way that conventional i-drive joystick that BMW has, people die to use that than any modern touchpad. The girl doesn’t has the slightest idea about what BMW is.

  8. Mike says:

Now it’s my turn to be subjective: I prefer to pay $53,500 for a BMW than paying $43,000 for a toyota

  9. Please suggest Lexus that branding is not just about a list of features: this is not a comparison between two light commercial vehicles. Worst commercial ever.

  10. Romeo says:

Wow Lexus si that much desperate to sell a car?
What a pity, she makes a fool of herself… Trying to take down a competitor doesn’t make you stronger Lexus, even weaker!

  11. Mark says:

the video is about as good as the car

  12. Regenz says:

One car looks modern, with novel design, the other (ho-hum) kinda warmed over with weird flaps-to-nowhere.

  13. Dave says:

the first ever car review video makes me so speachless

  14. jason bourne says:

Lexus should look at itself in the mirror… And notice that their cars are butt-ugly… As well as being posers.

  15. Tsai says:

Lol what’s going on in the comments below isn’t unlike what is going on in the video…. one sided arguments all around

  16. larson says:

Why put a marketing vid of Lexus on BMWBlog? It is obviously that she promotes Lexus and that she has to point out that it is the better car because it is cheaper. But just look it the car and the materials and you just know the BMW is the better one(we’re not even talking about how it feels on the road).

  17. Austin says:

I have to agree.. I would rather spend any amount of money to continue driving a brand I love than to basically drive a Toyota with softer suspension. BMW’s pedigree speaks for itself. Once you drive a BMW you know instantly that it’s unlike anything else on the road. You come up with reasons just to go drive your BMW, while you talk about how nice your leather is in your Lexus…
