The newly announced Tesla Model S P85D takes on the also new BMW M4 Convertible in a drag race. Some may say it’s not a fair fight, considering that the P85D has significant more horsepower and torque, and sends all that power to all four wheels, but nonetheless, it’s an interesting sight to see.
The new Model S P85D from Tesla outputs a total of 691 horsepower and 687 lb-ft of torque, available from zero RPM. On the other hand, the new M4 is powered by a 3.0 liter inline-six engine outputting 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.
Yet the race is closer than one would have thought due to the significantly higher weight of the Model S: 4,900 lbs versus 4,140 lbs for the M4 Convertible.
Let’s have a look.
