FastLaneCar brings to a drag race the 2015 Chevy Corvette and the BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe, two quite different automobiles but both exciting to drive, not only on a straight line but on the track as well.

The new C7 Corvette is 99.999% new, and it’s been built with strictly one goal in mind: performance. Every single part on the car is new except for one: the rear trunk latch. Every other part has been lightened or otherwise altered to improve performance. The result is a base model Corvette that roars from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds courtesy of a new “LT1″ 6.3 liter V8 that produces 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. To conquer corners the new Vette also sports an all-aluminum space frame, carbon fiber hood, trunk and roof, fiber-glass doors, fenders and side sills.

The BMW ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe delivers exceptional 0 to 60 mph acceleration in only 3.7 seconds. The 540-horsepower and 540 lb-ft output of the 4.4-liter ALPINA Bi-Turbo V8 is channeled through an 8 speed Sport Automatic Transmission with ALPINA Switch-Tronic and BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system.

It also has an impressive top speed: 198 mph.

So we have a slightly underpowered Vette, but lighter, against the four-wheel drive ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe. Which one takes the win on a straight line? Let’s find out.
