According to sources, the rendering shown here resembles quite well the upcoming 2016 BMW 5 Series. While some of the design cues might be slightly off, the overall look of the car won’t be much different.
The front bumper will certainly be bumped a notch in sportiness as well while the hood lines already give the G30 5 Series an aggressive and dynamic look. Some of the current BMW design features trickled their way into the G30 5 Series looks, starting with the headlights flowing into the kidney grille and the dynamics side panels.
Inside BMW will stay true to its classy, sporty and premium design, but with a new touch. We expected to see a redesigned dashboard with the free-standing LCD display and tons of premium features currently found in higher-end models.
The G30 BMW 5 Series is built upon the BMW’s next generation platform called “35up”, a codename for a new platform that will bring lightweight materials and to mass production cars. CFRP will play an important role here.
Powertrains will include a selection of four cylinder 2.0 liter engines and 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid drivetrain based on the one seen in the X5 eDrive Concept.
The first of the G30 generation models should arrive in the Summer of 2016.
