When you think of the Dutch you are probably thinking beautiful scenery, eco-friendly people and overall, a nice place to live. So seeing a BMW i8 on the streets of Rotterdam makes the touristy experience even better. This BMW i8 was captured by Thomas Van Rooij and it’s a perfect opportunity to remind ourselves of the gorgeous design and technological advancements the i8 brings to the market.

It’s not often that we see this particular model, especially with the fairly low production numbers. And the Sophisto Grey color makes the i8 stand out even more.

A BMW i8 is powered by a 1,499 cc (91.5 cu in) I3 turbo engine that, when combined with a hybrid synchronous motor, delivers a whopping 362 PS (266 kW; 357 hp) and 570 N·m (420 lb·ft) of torque, powering all four wheels.

The production i8 has a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a usable capacity of 5.2 kWh and intelligent energy management that delivers an all-electric range of 37 km (23 mi) under the NEDC cycle. Under the EPA cycle, the range in EV mode is 15 mi (24 km), with a gasoline consumption of 0.1 gallons per 100 mi, and as a result, EPA’s all-electric range is zero. The total range is 330 mi (530 km).

Acceleration from 0–60 km/h on purely electric power is done in 4.8 seconds. Doing the same run on a combined gasoline and electric motor, but from 0-100km/h takes 4.4 seconds. It’s a whopping acceleration combined with high-performance four-wheel drive system, all from a 1,499cc (91.5 cu in) motor installed.
