It was back in 1994 when first BMW E36 M3 cars were delivered to United States. The E36 M3 used the S50B30US engine with 240 bhp (179 kW; 243 PS) and 305 N·m (225 lb·ft) compared to Euro models, a different suspension setup and it did a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time in about six seconds. It was available with a five-speed manual and automatic transmissions, allowing a great option whether you were used to an automatic transmission or simply wanted the excitement of the manual in aggressive driving.
With 1996–1999 model years, the BMW E36 M3 had the engine’s displacement bumped up to 3.2 litres. It still had 240 bhp (179 kW; 243 PS), but it received an increase in torque levels to 320 N·m (240 lb·ft). The manual gearbox remained a 5-speed despite the European versions being upgraded to 6-speed. Then in 1997 it was also available as a saloon, then as convertible in 1998. Production of the saloon was halted in 1998, while the other models continued until 1999. Final US sales figures include a total of 18,961 coupes, 7,760 saloons and 6,211 convertibles.
And today, we are bringing you a custom project based on the BMW E36 M3 built by HG Motorspors. The photoshoot of this build was done by ActivFilms.TV and it shows off really well all the details of this highly preserved BMW E36 M3.
This particular vehicle is definitely ready for track days, as it has received a full roll-cage adding to the structural rigidity, but more importantly, allowing for a safer environment in cases of accidents on track! You will also notice a rear diffuser added together with an upgraded suspension setup, getting the vehicle closer to the ground and improving handling in the corners as well. In the front you will notice a lip spoiler.
All in all, it’s one BMW E36 M3 we’d like to take to the track any time!
