Autoevolution citing an unnamed source inside BMW reports on an upcoming BMW M4 GTS track-ready car. The story corroborates with some of our own learning while we visited Nurburgring last month.
In a conversation with several BMW M people, when we asked about future variants based on the new M3 and M4 sportscars, we were told that just like the previous generation E92 M3, future variants will spawn off, some more limited than others. BMW made headlines in the past especially with the M3 GTS and then the lightweight M3 CRT.
The aforementioned website doesn’t share more details on the M4 GTS but some of the things we all expect are around more lightweight techniques that will make the M4 even more track focused. The chassis will also go through a special tuning to bring it closer to racing specs.
Other things to expect on the BMW M4 GTS are carbon ceramic brakes, a rear wing to help with downforce and potentially a slight tune to give the car a power boost.
The big question once again is whether the M4 GTS will be homologated for the U.S. market or it will remain exclusive designed for European customers. Also expect a price tag of around 115,000-120,000 euros.
