Drive.com.au reports that the BMW 2 Series Convertible will be unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Speaking with Drive at the launch of the new 2 Series Active Tourer this week, BMW spokesman Kai Lichte said the company would be revealing “major models” at the Paris outing.
“You can guess what they are,” he said. “Two is a good guess.”
Just like its predecessor, the 1 Series Cabriolet, the new F23 open-top will feature a fabric roof.
The F23 BMW 2 Series cabrio is built exactly like the previously offered 1 Series Convertible at the Leipzig plant, and it is designed atop the coupe platform. The design cues of the cabriolet are similar to the coupe so no major surprises are expected.
Engine lineup will be taken over from its fixed roof sibling so we expect to see a 228i Cabriolet, 220i and 220d, at least for the launch. BMW will also unveil the M235i Convertible which just like the M235i Coupe will be powered by the 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine producing 322 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The M235i Convertible should be capable of 0-60 in 4.8 seconds when optioned with the 8-speed sport automatic.
The most important competitor is the Audi A3 convertible.[Source: Drive]
