The upcoming BMW 2 Series Convertible was spotted near Nurburg. The prototype seen here is the M235i Cabriolet, the top model in the convertible lineup.
Just like its predecessor, the 1 Series Cabriolet, the new F23 open-top will feature a fabric roof.
The F23 2 Series cabrio is built exactly like the previously offered 1 Series Convertible at the Leipzig plant, and it is designed atop the coupe platform. The design cues of the cabriolet are similar to the coupe so no major surprises are expected.
Just like the M235i Coupe, the convertible will be powered by the 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine producing 322 hp and 332 lf-ft of torque. The M235i Convertible should be capable of 0-60 in 4.8 seconds when optioned with the 8-speed sport automatic.
The most important competitor is the A3 convertible, starting at 30,500 euros in Europe. With a base price of 48,500 euros, the S3 Cabrio already gives an idea for the expected price of the BMW M235i convertible.
