The third-generation BMW X3 is due out in 2017. Built under the codename G01, the 2017 BMW X3 is expected to follow the design lines of the F15 BMW X5 and F16 BMW X6, so this translates to the headlights transition into the kidney grille, a more upright “nose” and round squared shapes that give the car a more muscular look.
The proportions of the G01 X3 are expected to remain the same, in the light of the BMW X7 being positioned above the X5.
The rendering below by Autobild speculates already on the design language of the G01 X3, starting the previously mentioned headlights and continuing with the more aggressive front fascia.
The current BMW X3 has been a huge success for the company, especially in the United States, and the idea of a premium compact SUV sells well to those customers looking for a premium product at a fairly acceptable price.
Under the hood of the G01 2017 BMW X3 we expect to see the new range of “B” engines, from four-cylinder petrol and diesels, to six-cylinder units, and potentially a powerful three-cylinder powerplant.
The 2017 BMW X3 will take on the also redesigned Audi Q5.
