With just a few months before its official unveil, the upcoming 2015 F85 BMW X5 M continues its testing sessions at the BMW plant in Spartanburg. The South Carolina-based spy photographer Palbay was on site to capture the second-generation X5 M in all its glory. Or almost, since the prototype still sports some limited camouflage.
The test mule shown below is painted in the Silverstone II color and the only thing left in camo is the front fascia and lower rocker panels.
As expected, the BMW X5 M comes with large air intakes, wider bodykit, rear diffuser and blue calipers M brakes. At the rear end, the F15 X5M features the typical quad exhaust pipes. The test mule spied also comes with the LED headlights that now flow into the 3D kidney grille.
The second generation of the high-powered X5 M will most likely driven by an adapted version of the S63Tü V8 twin-turbo engine from the BMW M5 F10. In addition to the standard 560 hp engine, BMW will most likely offer a Competition Package which delivers 575 horsepower.
The same drivetrain is also offered in the F86 BMW X6 M which will debut this summer.
Just like the previous generation, the F85 X5 M will target the Mercedes ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
