It’s the battle of the performance coupes as BMW’s new M4 takes on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Can the M4’s turbocharged 425bhp six-cylinder petrol engine compare to the 6.2-litre V8 of the C63 AMG? Steve Sutcliffe has the keys to both, and he’s about to find out.
The F80 2015 BMW M3 Sedan will cost $62,000 while the 2015 BMW M4 has a base price of $64,200. In Germany, the base price for the M4 Convertible is 78,200 euros for the version with manual transmission, and 82,100 euros for the M4 convertible with a seven-speed DCT.
It is worth mentioning that Stucliffe is comparing the M4 with the last generation C63 AMG which has a more potent engine. The new C63 AMG will also switch to turbocharging and a smaller engine. Also, let’s not forget that the outgoing E92 M3 uses the amazing naturally aspirated V8 with a great sound track. So the new M4 has a better chassis, gearbox, economy and ride, and it’s as fast with 75hp and 44lb ft less. Yet he picks the C63 AMG thanks to its better sound and a bit better steering.
