Just a day after we reported on the possibility of a future BMW i9, rendering artists got to work and created the first Photoshoped image of a BMW i8 with four door. Hence calling it, unjustifiably, the i9.
As we mentioned in the previous report, 2016 will be a celebratory and transitional year for BMW and the Munich-based automaker might use this opportunity to not only name a successor to the highly-successful CEO, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, but also to reiterate their commitment to future mobility and sustainability with the unveil of an i9 model.
BMW i executives and top designers have always said that the i3 and i8 are just the beginning, and along with a logical i5 model, further expansion of the electric and hybrid sub-brand is expected.
One thing is certain though, if and when it comes to market, the BMW i9 will certainly look different than just an i8 with two additional doors, so expect BMW to create a slightly larger vehicle with the characteristics of a four door coupe versus a sports car with four seats.
