The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Hybrid was spotted in France near the BMW testing facility in Miramas. While the petrol and diesel-powered 2 Series Active Tourer were unveiled in March in Geneva and are scheduled to come to market this year, the hybrid version of BMW’s first front-wheel drive vehicle will be launched in 2015.
The plug in hybrid drive which drives the rear wheels via an electric motor gives the car an efficient all-wheel drive system. BMW will offer the 2 Series Active Tourer with a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration.
Measuring just 4,342 millimeters long (170.9 inches), 1,800 millimeters (70.8 inches) wide and 1,555 millimeters (61.2 inches) in height, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers similar inside space as larger X vehicles.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is being launched with a choice of three powerful, light and fuel-efficient three and four-cylinder drive units that form part of a new generation of engines. They are installed transversely and boast a compact design along with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, at the same time as complying with the EU6 emissions standard.
While not confirmed, we expect the U.S. market to see the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer in 2015.
