A BMW M4 Gran Coupe model has been rumored for quite some time now and the rumormill churns out that the super sporty four-door M4 will debut in 2015.
The car will built atop the F36 4 Series Gran Coupe chassis while getting a complete M treatment ala M4 Coupe. Expect the M4 Gran Coupe to look like a smaller version of the M6 Gran Coupe, with similar, if not better driving dynamics.
BMW M4 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same new S55 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbocharged engine.
BMW M4 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same new S55 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbocharged engine. The S55 is set to deliver 431 HP and 406 lb-ft of torque. To ensure that nothing untoward happens on the bottom end the S55 employs a forged steel crankshaft. The torque developed by the S55 is fully available from 1,850 to 5,500 RPM which leads one to believe that the turbos selected for use on the S55 are slightly larger than the ones employed on the N54 motor of yore.
Design wise, expect to see the same aggressive front fascia with large air intakes and air curtains, and the now M3/M4 standard carbon fiber roof. Inside, the car will retain the M sporty look and feel but with more premium trims and leather.
When it goes on sale in 2015, the BMW M4 Gran Coupe will sit above the M4 Coupe and will cater to the same niche as the M6 Gran Coupe.
