Next year, BMW will unveil their second-generation X6 Sports Activity Coupe. The F16 X6 is sharing a platform with the new F15 BMW X5 and will come to market as a Model Year 2015.
The design of the new X6 takes cues from the latest BMW X5 and the upcoming X4, including the new headlights which connect to the kidney grille, larger kidney grilles and a “shark nose.” A pair of air breathers are also available on the sides of the car. The X6 retains the coupe-like roofline which flows nicely into the trunk. The length of the F16 X6 increased from 4877mm to around 4910mm.
Under the hood, expect to see turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engines powered by both gasoline and diesel once again, as well as the V8 turbo. The base X6 sDrive35i will produce 300 horsepower and can be ordered with an optional rear-wheel drive. Buyers of course will still be able to opt for xDrive all-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic is matted to the engines.
We will also see a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 once again featured in a new X6 M.
Base models will stick with a conventional suspension design with steel springs, while high-end models will get a self-leveling pneumatic suspension with adjustable ride control.
