Debuting at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will launch in June 2014. This is the third model to join the 4 Series family, after the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible. An M4 Gran Coupe is also rumored to launch in 2015. The renderings below are based on test mules spied on the road.

The four-door 4 Series Gran Coupe features a longer rear window that flows into a conventional trunk, a design feature that visually increases the side dimension of the car. The stretched and dynamic design on the side gives the car a more premium look while offering more interior room for passengers. The front and rear design are new to the 4 Series Gran Coupe and will differ from the two-door models.

Compared to the 4 Series Coupe and 3 Series sedan, the F36 Gran Coupe is four centimeters longer and has a height of 1.4 meters. While the heardroom in the back is smaller than the 3 Series, the elegant design and classic look make the 4 Series Gran Coupe a desirable car.

The 4 Series Gran Coupe is said to get a tailgate.

As a competitor to the Audi A5 Sportback, the F36 4 Series Gran Coupe will be available in the 420i, 420d, 428i and 435i configurations. Only the 428i and 435i will be available in the United States.

BMW are the only manufacturer amongst the three mainstream teutons whose design language makes sense. Well, them and Audi – but Audi will remain so-so until they accept RWD.

Premium German manufacturers? Porsche. They deliver both pleasing aesthetics and superior engine/ chassis technology. Between them, they keep my liking of German automobiles alive. Mercedes-Benz make huge strides with technology, but they should fire their whole design team immediately.

No way there will be a “third” window behind the rear door a la Audi. This is BMW we are talking about and I’m quite surprised how renders from AutoBild and other reputable sources present the 4 GC as a hatch/liftback with a 5th door and a third window. There is already the 3-Series GT. This car is going to be a sedan with a coupe roof line, like the 6 GC. End of story.

not sure what to make out of this really , Im so speechless about this whole expansion (which is great) but not in bmw case. If I didn’t had the money I’d buy used 6er gc over the new 4gc.
