The rumormill is at it again. According to German magazine Autobild, the long-time rumored BMW supercar is on track to launch in 2016. The report goes hand-in-hand with the one by CAR Magazine back in February which makes reference to an M8 model.
The German reporter mentions a 600 horsepower supercar with just under 1,500 kilograms ((3,300 lbs) weight. The car will be positioned as a descendant of the M1 but with new technology and materials, like the carbon fiber body seen in the i8.
Under the hood? A rumored V8 TwinTurbo engine, most likely similar to the one found in the M5/M6 models. The assumption is that a 0 to 62 mph time will stop the clock at 3.0 seconds while the top speed will be at 200 mph.
Launching in 2016, the BMW Supercar will celebrate the brand’s 100th birthday.
