The 520d is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 184 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI uses a 2.1-liter diesel unit with 170 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The wheels of the BMW 520d were moved by six-speed manual while the Benz uses an automatic transmission.
