Earlier this year, BMW and Chinese automaker Brilliance announced a new venture that will produce electric vehicles.
Dubbed ZINORO (in Chinese, the brand is called Zhi Nuo) which loosely translates to “The Promise”, the new family of vehicles will launch an X1-inspired model. The vehicle will go on sale next year and will be slotted under the MINI brand with the first model being a pure-electric vehicle. The all-electric crossover is using the X1 platform and might be offered with a plug-in hybrid setup as well.
A Zinoro 1E prototype was recently spotted in China and the design closely remind us of the X1 SAV. The proportions of the car are BMW inspired with the front fascia taking a different approach.
Debut is expected for the Guangzhou Auto Show in late November, and it will be launched on the China car market in the first half of 2014 for about 400.000 yuan (65.000 USD) without subsidies.
