Why the 4 Series cabrio against the E-Class? The E-Class Cabriolet is based on the C-Class sedan so we decided to go with cars that have similar dimensions, even though the price tag is different. The Audi A5 is also based on the A4 sedan.

All three premium convertibles are on par when it comes to dimensions: The Audi A5 Cabriolet measure 4626 mm in length, the shortest representative of the trio. The 4 Series Convertible is slightly longer at just 4.64 meters.

Although the E-Class Cabriolet has five inches less wheelbase than the 4 Series and almost six inches less than the A5, it towers over the Bavarians in the outer length and comes to just over 4.70 meters. Larger overhangs front and rear are the logical consequence.

While the 4 Series Convertible, just like its predecessor, comes with a three-piece folding metal roof, the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A5 Cabriolet feature the lighter fabric-made roof. BMW promises further reduction of noise and wants to decrease the noise by two decibels.

You should be comparing the M version with the AMG and the S-line. It would be more fair. Or all of them stock.

      True.

front merc , side merc , interior audi then merc…..
    performance..? doesn’t matter here.

Didn’t expect this but the Benz looks better and wins hand down, look, interior, overall appearance.

the blog forgot to include an important part of this comparison. The BMW is the only hard-top convertible in this lineup.

The Mercedes actually looked the best. Interesting…

Mercedes has the AMG body kits vs the BMW and Audi do not have the M power kits and S Line or RS for Audi which is not fair.

All beautiful cars but with Audi’s new(ish) A5 range and BMW’s new 4 series, I can’t help but feel that the E class is a bit out of place, especially as there is still BMW’s 6 series to be contended with (referring exclusively to 4 seater cabriolet vehicles), whereas Merc has nothing else higher up the range (topless with 4 seats) and Audi only has the A5. A price comparison would be interesting. For me, the BMW wins this (subject to reasonable pricing)!
