Interbrand releases their Most Valuable Brand rankings for 2013 and BMW ranks number 12.
At the top of the rankings we have Apple which takes over from Coca-Cola as the Most Valuable Brand in the world. The previous No. 1 brand, Coca-Cola, fell to No. 3. The report estimates the value of the Apple brand at $98.3 billion, up 28 percent from the 2012 report. The value of the Coca-Cola brand also rose, by 2 percent to $79.2 billion.
Coca-Cola remains far ahead of Apple and Google in likes on Facebook fan pages. Coca-Cola has 73.2 million, compared with 9.8 million for Apple and 15.1 million for Google.
The second place spot is held this year by Google which rose from fourth place last year. In Top 10 this year we have five technology companies: Apple; Google; Microsoft (No. 5), Samsung (No. 8) and Intel (No. 9).
From the automotive industry Toyota, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are ranked the highest. While BMW comes in on the 12th place, Mercedes-Benz ranks 11th with a value of $31.9 billion. BMW’s estimated value is $31.8 billion. Toyota is the most valuable automotive company in the world being ranked 10th by Interbrand.
“As pure driving pleasure and car ownership become less of a demand driver, BMW must meet consumers’ evolving needs while fending off traditional competitors and new entrants such as Tesla”, says the report.
