Spy photographer Palbay spotted the upcoming 2014 BMW X4.
The first medium compact Sports Activity Coupe will join the BMW X-family in 2014 and uses the same platform as the BMW X3 with a body length of 183 inches (4,648 mm), a width of 75.4 inches (1,915 mm) and a height of 63.9 inches (1,622 mm).
Just like the concept car, which we heard is at least 90 percent close to production, the X4 test mule spied near BMW plant in Spartanburg, SC stands out with its massive and sporty front-end. The front-grille gets the 3D kidney look seen on newer BMW as well as the “squared” circular headlights. The high gloss frame of the grille is open to the sides and at its lower extreme, lending it an almost “floating” appearance in the center of the nose. The grille features prominently sculptured bars with ultra-stylish detailing.
The X4 prototype seen her features the Sparkling Brown paint job with silver accents, an indication of one of the pre-defined lines: xLine or Luxury Line.
When looked at from the side, the BMW X4, just like its bigger and older brother the X6, features a stretched and shallow band of glass that creates a persuasively dynamic link between the greenhouse and vehicle body. The X4 sports a wide track and low center of gravity implying a more dynamic ride.
Under the hood, the 2014 BMW X4 will come with a wide range of both petrol and diesel engines, so expect anything from a four-cylinder turbo to the higher offering, 3.0 liter six-cylinder TwinPower turbo and 300 horsepower. It remains unknown if BMW has any plans to build an X4M, as previously rumored.
