With just a few months left before its public debut, the new BMW 2 Series Coupe continues to be seen on public roads sporting very little camouflage.
The new 2 Series will incorporate in its family the coupe and convertible models, and a potential Gran Coupe variant.
As seen in the spy photos below, the F22 2 Series Coupe features a different front-end than the 1 Series hatchback, with sleeker headlights and a kidney grille with gray bars that give a 3D look. The taillights are also sportier than those on the hatch and slightly larger.
Inside the BMW 2 Series Coupe retains the driving oriented cockpit and the free-standing LCD screen in the center of the dashboard. The color pallet and trims are similar to the F20/F21 1 Series, but we do expect to see small derivations that will make the 2 Series interior stand out more.
At the entry-level, we expect to see 220d, 218i or 225i models. At the top of the line-up, the M Performance Automobiles sub-division will take over with two high-performance 2 Series models: M235i and M235i xDrive. The new BMW M235i will also feature a proper LSD (Limited Slip Differential).
The M235i will most likely use the same engine as the M135i, a 3.0 liter TwinPower turbocharged six-cylinder producing 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque (332 lb-ft) at 1,300 rpm. Redline is set at 7000 rpm.
BMW will debut the 2 Series Coupe this fall.
